Such an amazing turnout -- on a Saturday! -- for the making of the Holiday Gift Baskets for the Robert Duvall Children's Fund. With so many helping hands, they created more than 100 baskets, things of beauty and value to boot! All who participated should feel proud of their effort. 'Tis the season, and Wakefield really came through in service to others!

Hill Run Success!!
A really great showing overall!! Congratulations!
Halloween Bake Sale
Fresh on the heels of the PJammin' success, fifth graders -- especially Sara, with help from Audrey, Alexa, Thomas, Riley, and Bryce -- worked with fourth grade to bake and sell a record amount of goodies for charity. All told, over two days and five sales venues, they raised $370 for the American Childhood Cancer Organization and the Robert Duvall Children's Fund. Tons of thanks to everyone who contributed!

Spirit Week!
Whew, what a week! Wednesday was Class Day, when we partnered with the 11th grade for a variety of activities, Thursday was PJammin' Day, out of uniform and into our PJ's as a fundraiser, and Friday was Red and White Day, with the ever popular (and loud) pep rally. Just to let everyone know, fifth grade had 100% participation for PJammin', and the entire lower school raised $204.00. Thank you. Thank you.

DEAR Reading
Monday, October 4, we had guest speakers from the American Childhood Cancer Organization and the Robert Duvall Children's Fund. We understand better now what we're reading for, as well as the link between reading at home and its impact in the larger world. PJammin' Day is our first tie-in event with DEAR reading. For a $1 donation, kids can wear their PJ's to school on Thursday, October 13, during Spirit Week.
